In 2022, 40 years since the Air Force 1 was introduced, a culmination of the rich history of the silhouette was realized with the introduction of the Louis Vuitton x Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh. Released posthumously, Abloh’s work seamlessly connected the decades of prominence of Nike’s famed sneaker. In total, Virgil Abloh designed 47 bespoke pairs of the Nike “Air Force 1” for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 show in collaboration with Nike.

Virgil Abloh SSENSE Air Force 1 Customs

Designed by Virgil Abloh, the Off-White x Air Force 1 Low '07 'MoMA' was unveiled at Art Basel Miami Beach 2016. In January 2018, MoMA exclusively sold the sneaker to celebrate its ‘Items: Is Fashion Modern?’ exhibition. The design features a metallic Swoosh on the black leather upper, an orange tag, translucent zip tie and white lettering on the side-panel.

Nike Air Force 1 Hyperstrike Scarr’s Pizza is considered to be 1 of only 48 pairs. This Air Force 1 Hyperstrike was dropped in 2019 to friends and family of the much-loved New York Lower East Side establishment Scarr’s Pizza. Founder Scarr Pimental and team member Audie Villot had the idea to create an Air Force 1 that reflected the quality of the OG versions they grew up with and to commemorate their home city.
